Androids

Disclaimer

There are androids in the game. Well, we call them androids but you can call them whatever you like: robots, cyborgs, iron-headed etc.

Androids in the game:

    1. Don’t have any rights. They are not treated as humans. Someone can fight for their rights — but it would be the same as for us to fight for the rights of google searching engine… All androids even the most human looking have a special marker. So people around always know if you’re an android.
    2. <
    3. At least at the beginning of the game, there is no artificial intelligence. At the best case robots are very good simulators of people. They can look like humans, act like humans in some situations but they are not humans. There is no self-consciousness or real speech. Robots don’t have feelings, doubts or moral dilemmas. Robots go to an extreme in everything.
    4. Robots exist and function in a very rigid framework, defined by their software. They are unable to go beyond these limits. But this framework can change drastically during the game.

Androids don’t have their aims, wishes or goals, they don’t have emotions even though they can simulate them well. All existence of the android utilised to the Owner.

Terms

Android — humanoid robot. Terms “robot” and “cyber” are also common. NB: it’s incorrect to call androids cyborgs as they don’t have any organic in them.

Model is a type of android oriented to specific functional and has its own characteristic and peculiarities. In our game, there are several models of factory androids. Non-standard and experimental models can also exist.

A complex model is an android with a dual functional. It can’t be triple and more. It’s available only for some Models.

Imperative — a block of certain knowledge, skills and opportunities expressed in one word or phrase.

Firmware — a set of Imperatives, defining the functional and capabilities.

The program is a set of firmware.

Patch — addition to the Program, complements it.

Marking — the "name" of the android, consisting of letters and numbers.

An owner is a person or legal body registered as an "owner" in the android profile. The owner has the right to give commands and dispose of the android. In case the owner is a legal body, the true owner still has to be one person.

A creator is a person or a legal body registered in the

android profile as "creator". It has the right and the ability to change all imperatives in the android program, and its commands for android are prior over the Owner's commands. The creator of most androids on the game is the DEX Company, and the chief engineer of the company is listed in the Creator field of the androids.

License — a document issued by the Public Security Committee to private or legal body permitting the production and use of the android. It is issued on the Model. The service centre is a specially equipped room for the production and programming of androids, authorised by the master.

Dismantling is the process of taking android to pieces, the "death" of the android.

A key card is a special card, which switches the control of android to its owner with the rights of the creator. As a rule, Creator uses it for androids released in big lots to give access to them to other employees of the company.

Command — direction for an android to act.

Models of androids

DEX (DX)

American made combat robots. Non-standard soft from other developers can’t be installed on this model. At the same time, original DEX software can’t be installed on other robots.

Ykki (YK)

Kawaii robots-friends. They wear neko ears as a marker. They are perfection in itself, it’s difficult to distinguish them from humans (they are too cute). When activating they are tied to a certain owner. The connection with the owner lasts during all life span of the robot. The owner can’t be changed. Original Ykki software can’t be installed on other robots. They say first versions of Ykki gathered information about the owner. Of course, now everything has changed.

Multifunctional Chinese robots

Gan (GN)

Workers, cleaners, waiters, housemaids, house robots, etc.

Ai (AI)

Sex machines.

Yshou (YS)

Assistants, butlers, secretaries.

They can look in different ways but they are hard workers, faithful companions and unreplaceable assistants. Only for these robots is it possible to create Complex models. You can also install medical or combat firmware on them.

Other models

Very old models, homemade, inventions, existing in a single copy, and so on. Roles from this category are discussed on an individual basis.

Marking

Instead of names (although the owners, of course, give them usual names and nicknames), robots have a special marking.

For example, DX460105.

Here the first two characters, DX, mean the model.
The first two digits — 46 — the year of issue;
The following two — 01 — lot number;
The last two — 05 — the serial number of the robot in the lot.

Notation:

  • DX — DEX;
  • YK — Ykki;
  • GN — Gan;
  • AI — Ai;
  • YS — Yshou.

For Complex models, double notation with a hyphen is used, for example, YS-AI, YS-DX or YS-MED for Yshou with additional medical firmware.

By the year of release, DEX, Gan and Yshou can’t be older than 25 years. Ai — not older than 13 years. Ykki — not older than function years.

Old and experimental androids can have a random marking.

General rules

Technical characteristics

Features of construction

Any android can carry a bag that means a hidden cavity invisible to the rest. You can hide their inanimate objects of a small size (that fit the bag).

Only a robot can open this cavity (bag) and add/remove things in it. It can be removed and opened when android is dismantled. The bad can’t be hacked.

Androids of DEX model can carry and use any type of weapon, except vibro blades. If the robot is disabled or destructed the weapon can’t be taken, as it is built-in during the factory assembly. Weapons can’t be dismantled in the field conditions, weapons can be replaced, but only at the Service Center.

Features of Ai constructions allow having sex with android.

Ykkis can’t wear any kind of armour. Ykki has a complex system of orientation in space (including wireless signals) and a sophisticated system of recharging. Wearing armour in 99.9% of cases leads the system data to malfunction or failure.

Number of hit points:

Androids of DEX model have five hit points, all others — three.

Power consumption features:

Android batteries require regular recharging. Recharging takes place in a quiet atmosphere. The method, the frequency of recharging and the time it takes depends on the design and life span of each particular android.

DEX — every four hours, recharging time is 5/10/15 minutes depending on wear and tear.

Yshou, Ai, Gan — every four hours, recharging time 10/20/30 minutes depending on wear and tear.

Ykki — is charged from solar energy. In case of being in a closed room, more than 12 hours is turned off.

The launch of the model and of the solar charging modules is possible only in the Service Center.

All other characteristics are set by the program.

License

All models must have a license.

Licensure has 2 steps:

    1. DEX company makes a test of the robot and gives a report.
    2. Public Security Committee examines all the materials and gives/ not gives the license. The creator must send the robot for the test during 6 hours from the moment of creation. After that, he has 2 more hours for registration.

When the time limit is expired unlicensed robot must be utilised. Only police and security department of DEX Company has the right to utilise the robot.

Technical check up

All licensed androids must have a technical check up (once in a cycle). The owner is responsible for that.

Sanctions for missing check up (if a robot wasn’t in check up two cycles in a row). 3. Androids owned by Dex Company must be returned to Dex Company 4. Androids owned by private owners lose the license.

Programming of androids

Creator level

The creator can install and uninstall firmware and patches. It is done in service centres. It is impossible to install or remove one imperative, only the entire firmware.

Each android must have basic firmware (it’s indicated in the name "basic"). Android without this firmware does not work.

You can’t install two basic firmware.

You can’t install unoriginal firmware on Ykki. Ykki’s firmware can’t be installed on a robot of another model.

The imperatives of the basic firmware are standard low-level tasks: "image recognition", "sound recognition", "master submission", "speech", etc. The set may vary slightly: for example, in old firmware, there may be no "self-learning", and in the illegal androids there is no "law-abiding" installed. All androids of one Creator usually have the same basic firmware.

Additional firmware can be functional and emotionally-behavioral. Settings that determine the characteristics of the robot are installed here.

Functional firmware determines professional skills and is installed on the recommended models. For example, "Firmware" Yshou "or" Firmware "Ai". Do not install two functional firmware at the same time; this can lead to a crash. There is special firmware for complex models. Examples of imperatives from functional firmware are "violence" and "bodyguard" for combat androids, "negotiations" and "evo-pidgin" — for android-assistants.

Emotional-behavioral firmware imitates the "personality" of the android. Examples of imperatives from emotional-behavioral firmware are "temperament", "humour", "swearing," etc.

Patches appear only during the game in the Technology Tree and are installed without restrictions.

Owner level

The owner of an android can control many functions of the robot and modify its behaviour by oral commands. E.g., you can prohibit your robot to speak or to move (these imperatives will continue to work and won’t disappear from the firmware).

If you switch off one of the basic imperatives, it can launch again if there is a special condition, e.g. if there is a danger to existence.

Self-learning

All the imperatives are set to minimum by default, but androids with imperative “self-learning” in the program can develop their skills. The more experience it has, the more time it spends on self-learning, the wider and more accurate are the skills of the robot.

Android can’t get a new imperative using “self-learning”.

Death and after death model for androids

Android dies if it was hit by Vibro blade or dismantled. After this, the player goes directly to a special area, where gets a new role.

On the wish of the owner, the memory of the android can be regularly saved in VR by making a reserve copy of all the files (if the creator or the owner has such an opportunity). It can be installed on a new android with the same or different appearance. In this case, a “dead” player goes to the place in VR where the copy is stored, spends there an hour. If during this time the owner doesn’t have a wish to restore the android the copy is deleted and the player goes to the special place for the dead.

A copy of the android can be deleted by hackers in VR or by the owner of the server where it’s stored.

A copy of the dead android can be hacked distantly as well as the working android.

After the “resurrection” of the android, the task memory is cleaned so the robot won’t complete the tasks given before the “death”.

Connection to other rules

Androids and economics

Androids don’t have money, income or insurance and the opportunity to have them.

Android is someone’s property. The majority of androids in the game is property of DEX company and is lent to owners. Upgrades and technical checkups are provided by DEX company even not to typical androids. Serenity citizens and the owners of insurance from this franchise have discounts and privileges in rent and service of androids.

Androids and fighting rules

Non-combat androids can’t do harm to anybody. During the fight you can use them only as a shield.

Combat androids can use all kinds of weapons except vibro blades. Look and characteristics of weapons are stated in fighting rules.

Androids have more hit points than ordinary people without augmentations, but maximum is six.

Any cold weapon of firearms takes off 1 hit.

If android loses 1 hit nothing serious happens. If it loses 2 hitpoints it is damaged. It can continue the fight but can’t walk quickly or run. If android has zero hitpoints it turns off and lies quietly without movement until hitpoints are restored and someone turns it on.

Hitpoints restore in calm atmosphere after the end of fight 1 hit per minute. You can turn on the android when 1 hit is restored.

Androids are stunned only with electric shock. Androids are not stunned with other weapons. You can’t finish off the androids only with vibro blade and not any other weapon.

You can carry android according to fighting rules. DEX androids can carry other people alone.

Androids and consciousness

Androids don’t have consciousness. At the beginning of the game androids don’t follow the model of Consciousness. But during the development of the game some new identities can appear and the person who in the role of android will play something new. E.g. someone invents the possibility to transfer consciousness in VR and command android body from it; or there will be an opportunity to put parts of consciousness on electronic storage device and connect it to the robot: or who knows.

Androids and Generations

Androids don’t follow rules and recommendations on generations.

Androids and gender

Rules for cross gender roles are the same for humans and androids.

Costume rules for androids

The only strict rule for androids is barcode on the face for DEX, AI, Yshou and Gan, on the back of the neck for Ykki, and somewhere on the body for old models.

Androids can’t hide barcode. Robots can hide barcodes in VR in some circumstances known to limited audience.

Ykkis wear neko ears as extra marker.

Androids look very much like people, but they stand out by their behavior, mimics, slow speech and lack of emotions.

Androids and VR

Androids can access VR if they have imperative “VR” in their firmware. In VR robots remain robots, they don’t use avatars or try to adopt false identity except some special occasions.

Androids don’t have time limits in VR. All other rules of VR are the same for androids and humans.

Androids and medicine

Androids don’t follow the medicine rules. Androids can’t be doctors. But specially programmed androids have all necessary knowledge in medicine, can assist humans and can use medical equipment.

What were androids doing during the Teract?

Teract didn’t have any influence on the androids. All the androids acted according to the imperatives and the commands.

Androids and hacking

Any android can be hacked. Hacking may give access to the android’s profile with possibility to change some points and may give access to the info androids have.

Admin of the android is set by the creator.

Android can be neither hacker nor admin.

Androids and sex

There is a special model of sex robot — “Ai”. Complex models also exist: Yshou+Ai, Gan+Ai, Ai+Dex. Androids of other model can’t have sex but some homemade androids can have this opportunity.
